Mr. Paul Barcelo knew he had a hearing loss for most of his life. He didn’t actually wear
or buy hearing aids until 2005. The first set he bought was from a Doctor in New
Smyrna Beach. The second pair he bought was from Mr. Dan Taylor. Paul said “It was
like day and night between dealing with Dan vs. Dr. Khan in New Smyrna Beach.”
Back in 1993, Dan was running A advanced hearing Care out of Suite #5. He now is in
suite #12 and has been since 1992. Mr. Paul Barcelo was sent by a Doctor to get a
hearing screen and was referred to Dan Taylor .
Dan was the first professional to break the news to Paul, after a routine OSHA Annual hearing test while he was still working, back in 1993 he wasn’t the first to fit him with hearing aids. Paul said “I trusted Dan since the first time I met him in 1993!”
Such was the case with our featured patient of the month, Paul Barcello. His wife and family
knew and accepted the fact that Paul needed some help, years before he was able to admit it.
Paul wasn’t thrilled to find out that he, and not those “mumbling” were the ones with the problem. It wasn’t until 2005 that he got his first set of hearing aids, in New Smyrna Beach, while living down there.
In his own words, “They made a huge difference.” Also, “The TV! my wife no longer had to yell, Hey Paul turn it down!”

Paul didn’t see Dan again until 2011, after he had moved back to Melbourne after retiring. Dan says I remember our first meeting, he wasn't ready back in 1993 but he came back to me for his next set of hearing aids. We’ve been taking care of him since.
“When coming to the office it is always a friendly comforting environment, feels like going to visit family.”
Paul’s story is one shared by many people that Dan has tested over the years, but didn’t initially fit. Like so many others, he needed the continued support and prodding of family members before being able to admit to a problem that needed correction.
Paul came back after all of those years, because even twenty years ago he’d recognized that we do everything we can to live up to both our name, and motto.
